Biden’s Agenda

Biden’s lagging agenda and dropping ratings have left many wondering if his agenda, primarily the reconciliation and infrastructure bundle bills, will pass before the year is up.. and at what cost? Media coverage surrounding President Biden’s agenda have centered around three main viewpoints- Republicans, Moderate Democrats, and Progressives.

Republicans in both the House and Senate have committed solidarity in not voting for either bill- even trending the hashtag: #JustVoteNo. Republicans are hyper focused on painting both bills as “House Democrats are pushing the most radical Far-Left Socialist piece of legislation in American history.”, per the House Republicans Twitter.

Moderate Democrats, though, have largely been the center of attention as to why these bills have taken so long, and have taken so many cuts. Namely Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin, have been holding up the process due to the price tag. After weeks of talks, political pressure and stalemating, these bills have remained just that- bills.

Progressives have been battling between holding the line of the original bill promises and compromising with moderate Democrats to pass a watered down version of both bills.

All of this happening while President Biden’s approval ratings fall- leaving many questions as to the future of Biden’s agenda before the upcoming new year. A strong need for compromise on the Democrats, Moderate Democrats, and Progressive’s part is needed more than ever while facing a unified Republican consensus on these bills.
